Minot AFB is situated approximately 13 miles north of Minot, North Dakota. Minot AFB is the home of the US Air Force’s 5th Bomb Wing. It was activated in 1957, during the cold war, and since served primarily as a base for strategic bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles. Today, Minot AFB’s tenant units include the 5th Bomb Wing units, supporting units and 91st Missile Wing units.
